Ever since he joined his family, Ruger has always been just one of the kids. He gets along with his human siblings so well, and the four of them love running around and playing together whenever they get the chance.
“He has special yet different bonds with each of my three kids,” Molly Figueroa, Ruger’s mom, told The Dodo.
Figueroa is a photographer, and so of course, both her human kids and Ruger are often her favorite subjects. Unfortunately, none of them are usually very good at sitting still for the camera.
“My kids hate posing, and Ruger usually avoids eye contact with Mom’s camera too,” Figueroa said.
One day, Figueroa was once again trying to get everyone to sit still and pose for a cute photo. For some reason, Ruger seemed to empathize with his mom that day, and decided to try setting an example for his human siblings by posing for the camera.
In fact, he even smiled.
“Somehow he was having the best day ever and had to flash that glorious smile right at me,” Figueroa said.
Figueroa was absolutely delighted that Ruger decided to smile for the camera that day, and hoped that his cooperation would rub off on the rest of the group. Instead, she ended up with a bunch of photos of a well-behaved Ruger and an unruly bunch of kids — which actually turned out to be pretty hilarious.
When Figueroa looked at the photos, she couldn’t help but laugh at the sight of Ruger sitting there, posing and smiling in the middle of all the chaos.
Eventually, the rest of the kids did sit still and let mom take a photo, but Ruger was definitely the most well-behaved child that day — but of course, it may have helped that mom brought along a special reward for his good behavior.
